EDITORIAL - Health reforms...TODAY... not tomorrow.
LA Metro HCC tried to implement a small business
group medical insurance for five years, running from government agencies to
private big medical groups to no assistance or support. Every time it was
something, from high deductible to limited coverage, from government
restrictions to high security bonds to open a new PPO. Our analysis
determined that 9 out of 10 small businesses and 19 out of 20 Hispanic small
businesses in the nation did not have medical insurance.
Two years ago, the inevitable health reforms initiative surfaced and from ex
President Bush to President Obama the it come to be the new controversial
item for all Americans.
At hand are the supposed to be Issues of the Initiative
1. Create a government-sponsored health insurance plan;
2. To require individuals to have health insurance and employers to provide
help getting it;
3. Help workers ages 50 to 64 get health insurance;
4. Reducing health care costs;
5. Require individuals to have health insurance and employers to provide
help getting it;
6. Spending more than $1 trillion for a major overhaul of health care that
improves access to coverage and quality of care.
That is it…Well...not
really… to put it in a simplistic way, is money against health, big medical
business against the American that cannot afford it.
If the health reform go into effect today, those large hospital and
insurance companies are bound to loss not billions but trillions of revenue
dollars that is why big money is spent to oppose the passing of the
initiative.
LA Metro mission is to support business and their activities but not to the
expenses of the under privileged communities and specially the Hispanic
community.
